Oeschinensee. This name alone already sounds magical, but nothing quite prepares you for the moment you see it with your own eyes. From Kandersteg, we took the cable car up the mountain, sharing laughs in the gondola as the valley grew smaller and the peaks loomed larger. Once at the top, we had packed sandwich lunch at a picnic table with the Alps as our backdrop. Honestly, this is the kind of “simple meal” we will remember for a lifetime.
The hike towards the lake was pure joy. Sun high above, blue skies stretched endlessly, cows with bells grazing lazily on the slopes, and meadows dotted with little yellow flowers swaying in the breeze. And then came the lake itself - impossibly turquoise, framed by jagged cliffs and snowy peaks, a sight so beautiful it almost didn’t feel real.
We walked, rested, took far too many photos, and soaked in the silence only mountains can offer. By the end of the day, We were sunburnt, tired, and completely happy. This was easily one of my favourite hikes ever, not just of this trip, but of all time. A day where nature humbles you, lifts you, and stays etched in your memory forever.
