A spiritual detour from Lisbon to Porto brought us to Fátima, a place of prayer, peace, and pilgrimage. The Basilica of Our Lady of Fátima stands as a powerful symbol of faith, built to honour the 1917 apparitions of the Virgin Mary to three shepherd children. We visited both the Basilica and the museum, where a striking golden crown, adorned with a bullet from the 1981 assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II, left a deep impression. Whether you are catholic, religious or not, it is hard not to feel the weight of history and hope here.
