We had not gone back to this coffeeshop since we started working from home due to the pandemic. When we were mandated to return to office a few months ago, we came back here for lunch only to find out that the coffeeshop had changed ownership, the whole place was fully renovated and all the previous stalls were no longer around except this fried Hokkien noodle stall, very much to our relief.
This has been one of my favourite fried Hokkien mee stalls around. The semi-dry noodle soaks up the broth and flavour really well, so well that I usually eat the noodle on its own without the chilli to fully enjoy the flavour. But I love their kickass homemade belacan chilli too! It is explosively spicy and yet full of the dried-shrimp aroma and taste. So my way to enjoy this dish here is to dip my chopsticks into the bright orange condiment and put a small portion of the chilli into the mouth and let the heat and flavour create firework in your taste buds followed by a spoonful of the gooey noodles and crispy pork lard. Then repeat.
Try it, this is really shiok!
