Shellfactory (조개공장)
After an afternoon by the coast at Cheongsapo, we headed back to Seomyeon for dinner at Shellfactory (조개공장), just a short walk from Lotte Department Store and our accommodation.
A huge tray arrived loaded with scallops, clams, octopus, mushrooms, fish cake, vegetables and cheese, all ready to be grilled over charcoal. The scallops were sweet and juicy, especially those topped with garlic butter, while the octopus added a nice smoky bite after a few minutes on the grill. Alongside the seafood were complimentary sides including kimchi with tofu, cheesy corn, udon and grilled flatbread, making it quite a substantial meal.
The staff did most of the grilling for us, so all we had to do was sit back and enjoy the food. The restaurant had a lively atmosphere, packed with locals catching up over soju and beer, which added to the experience.
That said, perhaps our expectations were a little too high after the incredible snow crab feast we had earlier at Gijang Market. While everything was fresh and enjoyable, nothing really stood out enough to leave a lasting impression. It was a good meal rather than a memorable one.
