Supercurry

When Mark asked me to check out this new curry rice stall with him, I knew I couldn’t give it a miss as this guy never waste his calories on lousy food.

Located inside the corner coffeeshop that sits at the intersection of Telok Ayer Street and Boon Tat Street, Supercurry specializes in Singapore-style curry rice set - the brainchild of ex-Antoinette Chef Pang Kok Keong.

"I am not Hainanese but, like many Singaporeans, I love gooey Hainanese curry rice and I thought this curry rice set would offer the CBD working crowd a yummy and hearty lunch option," Chef Pang says.

As this is a Muslim-friendly coffeeshop, there is no pork chop, lor-bak (braised pork belly) nor other pork items on the menu but there is no shortage of choices. There are 5 meat and fish set options available: Curry Chicken ($7.80), Braised Chicken ($7.80), Fried Chicken ($7.80), Assam Fish ($8.80) and Crackling Beef ($8.80). Each set comes with rice, omelette, braised cabbage, fried "Tau Kee" with their creamy curry sauce and braising gravy. You can add on other side dishes such as sambal sotong and fried chicken skin.

Serving is generous, even for these 2 big men but we are not complaining. "We are still adjusting. We receive feedback that the set portion is huge for average eaters and are planning to reduce the portion and bring down the pricing," adds Chef Pang.

If you are looking for saucy, messy and delicious curry rice set in the CBD area, head down to Supercurry soon. Power lunch guaranteed.
