We met up with the rest of the group and headed towards Mercat de Sant Antoni, a vibrant market that offered a different experience from the famous La Boqueria. This local gem may be smaller but boasted a newer interior and affordable prices. We immersed ourselves in the lively atmosphere, mingling with locals and savouring the flavours of Catalonia.
Within the market, we discovered Casa Blanca, a hidden culinary gem. With their commitment to sourcing fresh ingredients from the market itself, we indulged in a delightful seafood feast. From a bountiful seafood platter to savoury snails and succulent Iberico pork, each dish showcased the region's flavours.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable market and strolled through the streets of Barcelona one last time, the flavours of the markets lingered on our tongues, a reminder of the city's rich culinary heritage. Barcelona had bestowed upon us an intimate glimpse into its gastronomic soul, leaving us with a profound appreciation for its markets, its people, and the culinary traditions that define this vibrant city.
