Heidelberger
We left Switzerland early this morning and made our way back towards Frankfurt. Along the way, we stopped at the charming town of Heidelberg.
With its cobblestone streets, colourful houses and lively cafés, the old town was a delight to stroll through. We had lunch at a traditional German brewery restaurant with handcrafted beers and Bavarian specialties and Turkish coffee at a little corner café, wandered past the squares filled with outdoor tables, and looked up at the grand Heidelberg Castle that watches over the city.
Taking the funicular up gave us sweeping views of the rooftops, the river and the green hills beyond, a scene that feels straight out of a storybook.
It was just a short stop, but Heidelberg’s old-world charm left a big impression.
