The original Kok Kee wonton noodle, at the now-defunct Lavender Food Square, was well known for its springy noodles and lard-based chilli sauce.
In 2020, it was acquired for $2.1 million by the Jumbo Group which has since expanded the brand and opened 8 new outlets around the island.
This stall we tried was located at a coffee shop in Bedok North Avenue 3. Comparing with the hawker stalls around this area, the price here is not cheap - $5.00 for a standard plate of wonton noodle and $7.80 set comes with additional plate of vegetable.
It was so long ago when I last had the original Kok Kee wonton noodle at Lavender food court, so I cannot recall exactly how the original Kok Kee wonton mee tasted but the one we had here at the Bedok outlet was just average. Really nothing to shout about.
