GEMMA Restaurant

Located on the fifth floor of the National Gallery, Gemma is a modern Italian restaurant by the Michelin-starred chef-owner Beppe De Vito of The Illido Group.

While the dishes reflect the restaurant’s commitment to the contemporary, rustic elements reminiscent of traditional, hearty Italian fare can be seen in handmade pasta dishes and the freshly baked bread.

We started our five-course spread with a very sweet and refreshing carpaccio of Mazara del Vallo's red prawn wth Chitose strawberry followed by wild garlic raviolini served with morel mushroom.

First main was smoked Challan duck served on white onion cream with caponata.

The aged beef tenderloin was the highlight of the evening. The tender and flavourful steak was served with a tasty pink garlic and anchovies emulsion.

Sweet ending was ricotta-filled Cannoli, a common Sicilian pastry, with ice cream.

The mediterranean-inspired dinner was paired with the volcanic wines of Girolamo Russo.
