My boy turns 15

Yesterday marked a special milestone as we celebrated our boy's 15th birthday with a home-cooked dinner.

To kick off the celebration, we began with a refreshing first course - Hamachi and swordfish carpaccio. Delicate slices of white fish were beautifully complemented by thinly sliced donut peaches, imparting a subtle sweetness to each bite. Topped with vibrant tobiko and drizzled with my homemade lemon soy dressing and EVOO, the dish came alive with refreshing flavours and delightful textures.

Second course was roasted vegetables soup accompanied by mushroom brioche toast. The roasted roma tomatoes, red peppers, and caramelized onions infused the vegetable soup with a bold and robust essence. The earthy flavours of the mushrooms added depth to the buttery brioche toast, creating a harmonious medley of tastes.

Main course had to be his favourite lamb. I roasted racks of lamb, crusted with a blend of mustard and herbs, and served with smooth carrot puree, baby potatoes, and sweet peas. The combination not only delighted his palate but also created a visually colourful plate.

Of course, no birthday is complete without a celebratory dessert, and Mummy made him a Pistachio chocolate cake. Layers of moist chocolate cake interlaced with a luscious pistachio cream provided the perfect sweet finale to an extraordinary meal.

Happy 15th birthday, son! May this year be filled with endless blessings, cherished memories, and a bright future ahead.
