Okage-san Izakaya
This popular Izakaya, near our Onsen Resort at Hongu Wakayma, is famous for their Oden and Yakitori. The Izakaya has a Zashiki seating arrangement and we had our dinner around a low table on tatami flooring.
Oden is a traditional Japanese one-pot dish enjoyed during the colder months. Made with an assortment of fishcakes, tofu, eggs, meat and vegetables simmered in a light soy sauce flavoured dashi broth, oden is the perfect wintertime comfort food.
The Izakaya also offers Yakitori skewersof bite sized pieces of meat from all different parts of the chicken, such as the breasts, thighs, skin, liver, heart and other innards.
It was a lovely dinner on this cold winter evening but I really need proper table and chairs please!
