Looking for a quick lunch near my office led me to the delightful discovery of Pu Tien Ke (莆田客), a newly opened Tze Char stall nestled in a friendly Bedok neighbourhood coffeeshop. Specialising in Putian Cuisine, this stall captured my attention and taste buds!
Putian or Henghwa cuisine hails from the Fujian Province in China, known for its clean, pure, and fresh flavours. Drawing from the bounty of the sea, the cuisine celebrates seafood, melding it with the natural tastes of quality ingredients. The famous Pu Tien restaurant chain in Singapore has popularized this cuisine, offering a refined version that has won hearts across the region.
At Pu Tien Ke, you won't find the finer dining experience of the renowned Pu Tien restaurant, but what you will find is an authentic taste that's also easy on the wallet. I was impressed by the hearty dishes, each bursting with flavour and reminiscent of traditional Putian fare.
The offerings were reasonably priced, making this hidden gem an ideal spot for those looking for genuine taste without the hefty price tag. Though not as polished as its more famous counterpart, Pu Tien Ke holds its own with satisfying, home-cooked quality.
If you're in Bedok and craving a culinary adventure, don't miss out on Pu Tien Ke. It's an unpretentious treasure that serves authenticity on a plate, worth a visit!
