Miss Tam Chiak and her partner Chef Chao Yong have recently taken over the popular Hainanese Pork Porridge at Redhill Hawker Centre from the original owner, Mr Han, who has decided to retire after more than 30 years in the trade.
While staying true to the original recipe, they make some improvement to the ingredients using fresh lean pork and pork liver slices and Chef Chao Yong's handmade mushroom pork meat balls. Topped with youtiao, spring onion, fried shallots, shredded fresh ginger and tongcai (Tianjin preserved vegetable), this is a very comforting old-school breakfast.
With generous ingredients and affordably-priced ($3.50/$4.50), the Hai Nan Pork Porridge continues to attract long queue and is usually sold out before 10am.
