After lunch, we made a quick detour to explore Les Trois Châteaux d’Eguisheim, three medieval towers perched just above the vineyards west of town. From the carpark, it was a short 10-minute hike through a shaded trail, gently uphill and completely manageable.

The reward? Sweeping views of the Alsace plains and the red sandstone ruins rising stoically above the forest canopy. The towers, each with its own unique silhouette, felt like something out of a fantasy novel. We wandered through the remnants, squeezed through narrow passages, and soaked in the peace of the place.
