We arrived in Xingping Old Town (兴坪古镇) in the middle of the day, under a clear blue sky with the sun bouncing off the Li River (漓江) and the limestone peaks standing tall and proud. It was lively, warm, and full of movement, very different from the quiet evenings you often see in photos. After weaving through the narrow lanes with our luggage, we finally reached our hotel 墨池·奢江景度假酒店, not quite knowing what to expect.
The moment we stepped inside, everything slowed down. From the room and the rooftop, the view opened up completely. The Li River curved gently below us, boats gliding past, with layers of karst mountains stretching into the distance. It felt surreal, like the town had saved its best angle just for this spot.
Their suite with sweeping panoramic views of the river and mountains from almost every direction was stunning, but the real showstopper was the rotating bed. You could lie there and slowly turn, taking in the scenery without moving an inch. Floor to ceiling windows made the outside feel very much part of the room, blurring the line between indoors and the landscape beyond.
As evening approached, we headed up to the rooftop to catch the sunset. The light softened, the sky turned gentle shades of gold and pink, and the mountains slowly slipped into silhouette. Cameras and phones came out again, and we took more photos than we planned, knowing this was the kind of view you want to remember exactly as it was.
If you are visiting Xingping, I would really recommend staying here. It is more than just a hotel. It becomes part of your journey, a place where the scenery does not just surround you, but stays with you long after you leave.
