点都德

After wandering through the museum, our stomachs started giving gentle reminders that it was time for lunch. A short walk brought us to the 流花展贸中心 outlet of 点都德, and the moment we stepped in, it felt like we had walked straight into everyday Guangzhou life. Families chatting, tea pots clinking, bamboo steamers arriving at tables non stop. This is exactly how lunch should feel here.

We ordered freely, without much thinking, just pointing at things we felt like eating. Steamed shrimp dumplings with thin delicate skin, juicy siu mai crowned with sweet prawns, rice rolls swimming in light soy sauce, fluffy char siu buns, crisp egg tarts still warm from the oven. Plates kept coming, the table slowly filling up, and somehow there was always room for one more basket.

I like the name 点都德, because it says a lot about Cantonese food culture. In Cantonese, it means anything is possible, whatever way also can. No rules, no right or wrong order, no need to impress anyone. Eat what you like, share what you want, take your time. 点都德, everything works. That easy going spirit is exactly what dim sum is about.

We lingered over tea, chatting and laughing, enjoying a proper lunch break in the middle of the day. Nothing fancy, nothing rushed, just good food and good company. If you are visiting Guangzhou and craving a proper dim sum experience, this is one place I would happily recommend. Simple, satisfying, and very Cantonese.
