This Aussie-inspired cozy cafe located in the hip and quaint neighbourhood of Dempsey serves up healthy and hearty comfort brunch throughout the day.
Unlike most restaurants or cafes that offer just a token vegetarian meal or two on their menus, Carrotsticks and Cravings have clearly considered the rising demand for non-meat-based dining with up to 80% of the menu being plant-based.
Their signature smashed avocado sourdough is served with feta cheese, dukkah and poached eggs (optional). The spicy dukkah provides an additional layer of flavour to the buttery avocado while the runny egg yolk brings everything together.
Red Shakshouka is a vegetable stew (I could taste bell pepper, onion and tomato). Here it is served with poached eggs and sourdough. With a strong spice flavour of cumin, paprika and cayenne, the shakshouka with bread will definitely warm and fill up your stomach.
The only “meat dish” we get to try is the Manwich which is a sandwich of roasted leg ham, smashed avocado, tomato and cheddar cheese.
If you are leaning towards eating less meat, or considering what it means to be vegetarian or vegan, check out this place.
