Casa Amàlia
Our first meal in Barcelona at Casa Amàlia was nothing short of spectacular, a true immersion into the city’s culinary artistry. Each dish carried its own story, blending traditional Catalan flavours with a modern edge.
One standout was the Red King Prawn Carpaccio, a visual and gastronomic masterpiece. The prawn was served whole, its delicate raw flesh draped in a zesty lime and tarragon mayonnaise. It was a dish that highlighted the freshness of the seafood, with each bite feeling like a whisper of the Mediterranean.
The Sea Bass Ceviche was another stunner, its citrusy brightness perfectly balanced with a sweet potato mousse laced with orange, anise, and cinnamon, crowned with crunchy field corn for an earthy finish.
Then came the Grilled Octopus, tender and smoky, paired daringly with a spicy kimchi sauce and roasted sweet potato mash. Love it.
From traditional appetisers like croquettes to playful "Popeye" spinach fritters drizzled with organic honey, to the soulful black rice with prawns and a decadent torrija dessert, Casa Amàlia enchanted us with its creative approach to Catalan cuisine. This is an experience we would fondly remember as the perfect way to start our journey in Barcelona.
