CUDO at Stanley Street only opened its doors in May this year, but it already feels like it has found its rhythm. The rustic walls, framed art, and warm glow from the sconces give it a lived-in charm, while the buzz from the bar keeps the space lively. It is the kind of spot where you want to linger with a glass of wine, passing plates around the table with friends.
Their 2-course set lunch at $28 is a gem in the area. We went for some top-up options to make it more indulgent. The Cheese & Jamón (+$4 Supplement) paired creamy burrata with jamón serrano, arugula, and a shiso gremolata – comforting with a fresh lift. The Stuffed Carnedilla (+$4 Supplement) was the indulgence of the day: slow-braised beef short ribs wrapped in a golden tortilla with caramelised onions and three cheeses, every bite gooey and hearty. But the dish that caught everyone’s attention was the Torched Truffadito (+$5 Supplement) – yellowtail tiradito draped in a sauce inspired by leche de tigre, the citrus-based dressing often used in ceviche. Here, it is given a twist with earthy truffle notes, creating a bold, addictive balance of tang, umami, and richness that made us keep going back for another forkful.
For mains, the Rigatoni Verde (+$4 Supplement) was vibrant and light, tossed in pesto with rock shrimp. The Roasted Chicken had a smoky jerk seasoning, lifted with jalapeño ají verde and sweet burnt onion purée. And the Pan-Seared Seabass (+$6 Supplement) came perfectly crisp-skinned, resting on a coconut shellfish bisque with tomato rice, brightened by pineapple pico de gallo.
Each plate had character – a mix of Latin warmth with modern flair. Sitting there, sharing food and stories, I was reminded why meals like this matter. Not just for the flavours, but for the company they bring together.
If you are around the CBD, CUDO’s lunch is one worth slipping away for. Go with friends, order a few extras, and let the flavours surprise you.
