Eat First (食之为先)

The food scene in Singapore is ever-changing. Remember the old Eat First (食之为鲜) in Siglap? It is back, but this time on Geylang Road. Chef Steve Chia has brought it to his late father's original spot, and the vibe is as fresh as their steamed song fish head.

Speaking of which, that dish is still the showstopper. Imagine a fish so tender, it practically sings on your palate. But let's not forget the steamed minced pork with salted fish. The salted fish is more than a side note; it is a co-star that brings a perfect briny contrast. We also indulged in fried kailan with prawns and fried ginger chicken.

Desmond’s Creation (食饱先), the Michelin-starred sibling restaurant, is a hop away. Sure, it is bustling especially during peak lunch hours, but we were more captivated by Eat First's cleaner and brighter venue. It is like choosing a peaceful spa day over a noisy rock concert - both great, but sometimes you just want to savour the moment.

So, if you have got a craving for old-school Cantonese goodness, make a beeline for the new Eat First. Trust me, it is worth the journey.
