Firangi Superstar

Dining at Firangi Superstar along Craig Road is an extremely visual experience. The modern Indian restaurant takes its diners on a dreamy and cinematic journey through India, with magic at every turn. The entire dining area is divided into several theatrically crafted rooms with each space having its own theme and colour palette, distinct yet complementary. One corner features an old railway train carriage while another Jungle-themed space is anchored by a feature wall of artifacts, animal prints, and resin antlers.

One look at any of the objects in each room and one can understand the refinement embedded in each item. All the care, attention and beauty are also on display. The mind-blowing atmosphere of the restaurant compels a party. It is designed to be the spot to enjoy Head chef Thiru Gunasakaran’s modern reinterpretation of Indian cuisine, inventive cocktails and drinks with friends.

Indeed, the theatre of the modern Indian dishes add to the exceptional deco of the space. After a selection of chutney and raita with papads and crackers, be surprised by sharing plates with funky names like “Prata Waffle” - chef's version of the American fried chicken and waffles boasting a Madras-style fried chicken with a butter chicken sauce and jaggery syrup. “Tikka Takeaway” turns out to be grilled Spanish Octopus served with Tandoori-Lime Aioli and Naan crumbs. “She’s So Pyaza” is a vegetarian dish of crispy okra and caramelised onion.

Larger sharing plates include Tandoori spiced lamb served with confit garlic and roast Iberico Pork rubbed in Mangalorean spice mix. Add naan or basmati rice to complete the meal.

Although we could probably go elsewhere for a proper sit-down traditional curry, Firangi Superstar offers a unique value proposition - a super instagrammable interior and atmosphere to immerse yourselves in; and a lovely menu that provides a distinctive perspective on Indian cuisine.
