Our last dinner in Mykonos felt like the perfect way to end our stay on this beautiful island. Before flying back to Athens the next day, we gathered at Fish Tavern Koynelas for one final feast.
By this point of the trip, we had realised that the food across the Greek islands was very much "same same but different". Every island had its own version of grilled seafood, hummus, Greek salad, pita and hearty grilled meats. The ingredients and presentation might vary slightly, but the emphasis was always on freshness and simple cooking. Somehow, we never got tired of it.
That evening, we shared a refreshing seafood salad, creamy hummus with warm grilled pita, and a generous seafood platter loaded with grilled fish, squid, octopus, prawns and shellfish. Everything was simply cooked to let the natural flavours shine. For the meat lovers, the grilled pork chop was juicy, smoky and satisfying.
As the evening went on, we slowed down and simply enjoyed each other's company. There was no rush to tick off another attraction. Just good food, relaxed conversations and plenty of laughter as we looked back on the wonderful memories we had created over the past few days.
Travelling is never just about the places we visit. It is about the people we share the journey with. Looking around the table that evening, I realised the friendships, conversations and shared meals would stay with me long after the taste of the food had faded.
A wonderful final evening in Mykonos before returning to Athens and continuing our Greek adventure.
