Jia Li Seafood Soup

Jia Li Seafood Soup, a hidden gem that sprouted from the humble beginnings of a Marsiling stall formerly known as Sin Kee, has indeed cast a wider net across Singapore, with its latest catch being an outlet on New Upper Changi Road in Bedok. Conveniently situated near my office, this new spot has quickly hooked my attention and taste buds with its sumptuous offerings.

The cornerstone of Jia Li's charm is undoubtedly the soup – a broth that is both rich and robust, simmering with the promise of home-cooked goodness, and remarkably, free of MSG. It is an embrace of pure, unadulterated flavours, capturing the essence of the sea. Each spoonful is like a culinary voyage, navigating through the sweetness of the sea's bounty.

The seafood soup, a harmonious medley of fish, prawns, and minced pork, arrives in a generous portion that is bound to satisfy. Speaking of fish, Jia Li offers a choice that caters to varied palettes. From the humble Dory, to the zestier Batang and the premium Red Grouper, there is a fish for every mood and craving. And while we are on the topic of portions, let me assure you, Jia Li is rather generous, unlike another well-known seafood soup outlet in Bedok (hint: AASS).

My personal journey with Jia Li's soup was a tale of flavour and finesse. Opting for the red grouper, I found the fish impeccably fresh, its firm flesh yielding to the fork, mingling with the sweetness of prawns and the savoury comfort of minced pork.

So, the next time you find yourself in Bedok or, like me, working nearby, why not treat yourself to a bowl? Dive into the rich flavour and you might just find a new lunchtime favourite.
