Kali Kardia, Santorini

Akrotiri is a quiet corner of Santorini that many visitors simply pass through on their way elsewhere. We spent some time wandering around the village before dinner, watching the sun slowly disappear into the Aegean and enjoying the slower pace away from the crowds of Oia and Fira.

Dinner was at Kali Kardia, which fittingly translates to "The Good Heart". The name could not have been more appropriate. This is not the sort of place chasing Michelin stars or social media fame. Instead, it serves honest family cooking, generous portions and the kind of warm hospitality that makes you feel like a guest rather than a customer.

As darkness settled over Santorini, we lingered over our meal, sharing food, stories and plenty of laughter.
