Tucked away in the quiet residential enclave of Opera Estate, Le Petit Paris is the kind of place you almost miss if you are not looking for it. The bistro sits at the end of a narrow road flanked by landed houses, and as you make that slow drive in, you wonder if you have taken a wrong turn until you spot that pop of Parisian blue and a little terrace that whispers Bienvenue.
This is not fine dining, nor is it your usual cafe trying to dress up as something fancier. Le Petit Paris knows exactly what it wants to be - an upscale casual bistro with soul. No gimmicks, no 1-for-1 nor BYO. Just honest food made with good ingredients and a solid kitchen led by Chef Felicien Cueff.
We started with the Fresh Burrata with Cherry Tomato Salad. The burrata came perched like a crown on a bed of juicy cherry tomatoes, shallots and basil oil. It looked like it had just rolled out of an Italian countryside kitchen and decided to go glam. Rich, creamy, with pops of acidity.
The Classic French Onion Soup was comfort in a bowl, with that unmistakable aroma of caramelised onions. The cheesy crouton floated on top like a raft rescuing your taste buds. No short cuts here, just slow-cooked goodness.
The Smoked Pork Belly with Mashed Potato was indulgent without shouting. The pork belly was smoky, fatty (in a good way), and charred just enough. The mash was silky smooth, elegant in its simplicity.
The Baked Duck Confit Parmentier was a humble casserole dish, packed with deeply savoury duck confit under a golden crust of breadcrumbs, garlic oil and luscious mash. It reminded me of French farmhouse cooking - hearty, unpretentious, and made with love.
Le Petit Paris is not trying to impress with frills. It wins you over with charm, warmth, and quietly confident food. Come hungry, come with good company, and leave your wine bottles at home. They have got their own list to enjoy.
