Mr Biryani

My girl and I had a wonderful lunch date at Mr Biryani, exploring their Dum Turkey Biryani and the latest Chaat & Chai afternoon special. Originally part of their Christmas festive menu, the turkey biryani was a delightful surprise. It was moist, tender, and infused with aromatic spices, quite unlike the dry roast turkey we usually get during the holidays. It had the same bold flavours and fluffy rice as their signature dum chicken biryani, making it an absolute treat.

Being a true paneer lover, she opted for the Gongura Paneer Biryani which was fragrant, fluffy, and generously loaded with paneer. The tangy gongura (sorrel) added an interesting twist, but for me, nothing quite beats the deep, slow-cooked flavours of a dum meat biryani.

We ended the meal on a high note with their Appam - thin, crispy, and lacey at the edges, warm and spongy in the center. It was served with coconut milk, vibrant orange sugar, and homemade gula melaka sauce, creating the perfect balance of sweetness and richness. Then came the Pani Puri, a classic street food delight. Each crispy, hollow puri bursting with tangy and sweet mint water was an explosion of flavours in every bite.

To complete the experience, we enjoyed Masala Chai and Vietnamese Drip Coffee. The highlight? The imported condensed milk from Vietnam. It just hits differently compared to what we get in Singapore and Malaysia. It had a noticeably richer, creamier texture that paired beautifully with the robust, slow-dripped coffee, making every sip indulgently smooth.
