Wing Seong Fatty's Restaurant, the unsung hero of Cantonese Tze Char in Singapore, has been serving up nostalgia since 1926. Their dishes are like a warm embrace from the past.
We have lots of favourite dishes here. To name a few, the sweet and sour Pork is a tantalising tango of taste. The roast duck is crispy yet tender. As far as I know, they do not roast the duck themselves but do a very good job in crisping the duck skin before serving. The duck is bathed in a wok of sizzling hot oil. With each scoop of hot oil poured over, the skin crisps up, achieving that golden perfection that's the stuff of foodie dreams.
Stir-fry beef with spring onion and ginger is the comfort food you never knew you needed, but can't live without when served with a bowl of steaming hot rice. Homemade tofu here is silky, flavourful, and undeniably delicious with the magic brown sauce.
These are just the tip of the iceberg and we usually order a lot more with a bigger group. There is a treasure trove of dishes, each with its own story, waiting to delight your palate.
In the ever-evolving gastronomic scene of Singapore, this place remains a testament to timeless Cantonese flavours. If you have yet to pop by, you are missing out on a true culinary adventure; if you are a regular, then you, my friend, have impeccable taste.
