When I shared a post on Joo Chiat Char Kway Teow recently, some of you suggested that I should try this Tze Char stall in the same Joo Chiat coffeeshop too and so here I am.
The stall sells Taiwan porridge (sweet potato porridge) with nostalgic cooked-to-order Tze Char dishes. For porridge stall like this, I can be quite boring and tend to order the same few comfort dishes such as steamed fish, chai-poh omelette, and braised pork belly with preserved mustard green. They never fail to warm my soul and tummy especially on a cold rainy day like this.
Overall not bad but no where near the standard of the now-defunct 许俊盛 Xu Jun Sheng (XJS) Teo Chew porridge stall in the same Joo Chiat neighbourhood. So deliciously old-school!
Anyone know of any place that is of XJS's standard? Miss it so much!
