Imperial Treasure Cantonese Cuisine

It has been a while since my last visit here and I think this is still my favourite Imperial Treasure outlet in Singapore.

The hallmark of a good Cantonese restaurant is its roast barbecue meat selection. We had the popular roast pork and the honey-glazed Iberico pork Char Siew to kick off the dinner.

We pre-ordered the Crispy Chicken stuffed with Glutinous Rice which was my favourite dish of the evening. This dish requires the Chef to have precise control of temperature and time to achieve the final result - The chicken skin was golden brown, super crispy and the meat moist and tender with the fluffy and fragrant glutinous within.

The braised Oxtail Claypot was another highlight of the evening. The sight of the aromatic garlicky thick sauce covering the fork tender meat pieces was enough to make me salivate. Had we not ordered the chicken with glutinous rice, I would definitely have a bowl of plain steamed rice to go with this dish.

With fresh live prawns, any cooking method would do. We opted for simple pepper and salt (椒盐 ) to taste the freshness of the seafood.

The simple vegetable dish of celtuce (莴笋) slices stir-fried with preserved ‘Xue Cai’ vegetable was surprisingly refreshing and delicious. The stem vegetable was crunchy and the pickled vegetable added depth and a new dimension to the flavour.

The restaurant features an extensive Cantonese menu packed with many other delicacies and dishes, many of which I have not tried. It should not take me that long for my next visit.
