I am sure the owners of Nanyang Culinary Club (NCC) grew up in the 70/80s. Local Chinese XinYao songs from that era could be heard playing in the background and the food are served on old-school enamel bowls and plates.
The cafe is co-founded by two friends, Raye Tan who used to operate Chong’s Hakka Yong Tau Foo at St Georges Lane and Anglelina Weng who used to run Pok Pok Keh at Kovan. No surprise that the cafe's menu focuses on signature dishes from their previous locations - Raye's Hakka YTF soup and Angelina's herbal chickens.
NCC is also popular for their concoction of old school Nanyang style beverages made into what is known as Kopi-cino, Milo-cino and Bandung-cino.
Slightly pricey for the kind of food but they are actually quite delicious and the nostalgic ambience would strike a chord with many like myself.
