Octopus Restaurant in Girona made quite an impression on us with its vibrant seafood market concept. As we stepped in, we were greeted by a dazzling display of fresh seafood nestled on beds of ice, everything from oysters to turbot, scallops to bamboo clams, all waiting to be handpicked. The experience started with a complimentary glass of cava as we browsed the counter, contemplating our choices.
After selecting our seafood by weight, we chose how it would be prepared. The fresh oysters were briny and silky, a pure taste of the sea. The scallops, grilled to perfection and still nestled in their shells, were sweet and buttery, enhanced by a touch of char. The baby squids and calamari were tender delights, while the mussels in their aromatic sauce stole the show. The whole turbot, simply prepared, showcased the exceptional quality of the seafood, and the bamboo clams, lightly dressed in olive oil and herbs, were a treat. The hearty paella added richness to the meal, and even the warm bread, crisp on the outside and fluffy within, added a comforting touch.
It felt less like dining and more like a personalised seafood adventure. This unique concept, paired with the friendly atmosphere and fresh ingredients, made for an unforgettable dinner. A must-visit in Girona!
