Penang Kimberly Street

Kimberly Street was our next stop, and it didn’t disappoint. The duck kway chap stole the show with its light herbal broth, thick slippery rice noodles, and tender braised duck meat. It was also a milestone moment for my boy, who got to taste pig blood curd and pig ears for the first time. Pig blood, which is banned in Singapore, added an interesting twist to the experience. Its soft, tofu-like texture and the contrast with the chewy crunch of pig ears created a unique combination that left him pleasantly surprised – a culinary adventure he won’t forget anytime soon.

By this time, however, we were starting to feel quite full, and the char kway teow and oyster omelette did not quite excite our palates as much as we had hoped. While they were well-executed and flavourful, perhaps the earlier dishes had already set the bar too high, or our stomachs were simply protesting against the idea of another indulgence.

To round it off, we cooled down with a refreshing bowl of local dessert – icy, sweet, and the perfect ending to a food-filled evening.

Street food under the stars, with lively conversations and the charm of Penang in every bite – a memorable way to conclude our first day on the island. Tummies full and hearts fuller, we were already looking forward to what tomorrow has in store!
