This long-standing izakaya along Robertson Quay is very popular with patrons for its wide range of sumiyaki and sake for years now. From the usual Yakitori (Chicken thigh with leek) and Torikawa (Chicken skin) to more interesting and premium skewers like Hotate/Kaki Buta Maki (Scallop/Oyster rolled with Pork) and foie gras, the menu offers an extensive range of sumiyaki items.
On top of the charcoal-grilled skewers, they also offer sashimi and a dizzying array of sakana (small bites to go with sake). Like a Spanish tapas bar, the concept is to share tiny plates of delicious bites to go with alcohol with your friends and loved ones in a no-frill setting.
We enjoy being pleasantly tipsy on the cold sake, breathing in the fumes from the charcoal grill as we share plates after plates of sumiyaki along the vibrant Singapore river.
