Returning to The Coastal Settlement after nearly a decade felt like stepping into a time capsule. The space looked just as charming as I remembered, with its vintage decor and laid-back vibe that makes you feel like you have drifted far from bustling Singapore. It was a pleasant trip down memory lane, now shared with my team for a lunch gathering.
The menu still offers a casual mix of Western and Asian-inspired comfort food, though I noticed prices have crept up quite a bit. Understandable, given the times and rising costs, but I must say it is on the pricier side for the setting and type of food they serve, especially considering its relatively out-of-the-way location. The dishes were decently above average, enough to satisfy without knocking it out of the park.
Nostalgic and enjoyable? Yes. Worth the extra cost for the experience? That is a bit more subjective. If you are in the area or looking to escape the city rush, it is worth a visit - just keep the higher price tag in mind.
