Venta Moncalvillo (Part I)

Our evening at Venta Moncalvillo, a Michelin-starred restaurant in La Rioja, was an epicurean odyssey that unfolded over hours of indulgence and culinary marvels. The dining experience was so rich in detail and flavours that I must split our tale into two parts to do it justice. So, fasten your seatbelts as we embark on this remarkable gastronomic adventure!

We arrived at the restaurant at about 8:30 pm, and little did we know that we were about to embark on an extraordinary culinary marathon that would span several hours. It was an experience that reminded us that dining is not just about the food; it is a celebration of art, passion, and the joy of savouring every moment.

We were first led into the restaurant's enchanting garden, where the very ingredients that would grace our plates were grown and nurtured. Sipping champagne and nibbling on delightful amuse bouche, we immersed ourselves in the serene beauty of the surroundings. The connection between nature and the dining experience was palpable, setting the stage for the extraordinary culinary journey that awaited us.

As the sun set, we were guided to the chef's table, a place of honour where we had the privilege of an up-close and personal encounter with the culinary genius behind Venta Moncalvillo, Chef Ignacio Echapresto. His passion for his craft was infectious as he personally demonstrated and prepared a few more culinary delights before our very eyes. It was a magical experience to witness the intricate techniques and artistic flair that went into each creation.

In total, we were treated to an array of nine amuse bouche even before the dinner officially commenced. Each bite was a revelation, an explosion of flavours and textures that left us craving for more. The attention to detail and the artistry in the presentation was simply awe-inspiring.

Just when we thought our evening couldn't get any better, we were escorted to Venta Moncalvillo's wine cellar. The cellar held an extensive collection of exquisite wines, a testament to the restaurant's commitment to wine pairing excellence. It was a moment of awe as we immersed ourselves in the rich tapestry of aromas and the legacy of La Rioja's winemaking traditions.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of our culinary escapade at Venta Moncalvillo, where we will delve into the sumptuous dinner and wine pairings that awaited us. Prepare to be enchanted as we continue our exploration of this extraordinary dining experience.
