Yang Ming Seafood

Yang Ming Seafood is a shining example of resilience and success in the midst of challenging times. Despite opening just months before the onset of the pandemic, this hidden gem in a Bishan neighbourhood coffeeshop not only weathered the storm but also expanded to a second outlet in Ubi. Their secret? A delectable menu featuring fresh seafood delicacies that quickly gained popularity among foodies and wine enthusiasts, who were delighted by the BYO wine option.

We returned to the original Bishan outlet, drawn by the irresistible allure of their famous Andrew Lobster Chee Cheong Fun. Having previously savoured the Boston Maine lobster with rice flour rolls, we decided to indulge in the Australian Rock lobster this time, enticed by its firmer meat and brinier flavour. The result was a tantalizing combination of steamed lobster meat and silky Chee Cheong Fun, drenched in their special soy-based sauce and adorned with a generous sprinkling of fried garlic bits. Each bite was a harmonious symphony of flavours.

We wanted to explore something new and the Chao Shan braised cuttlefish caught our attention. A whole cuttlefish, lovingly braised Teochew style, was sliced into delicate slices and served alongside braised beancurd. Simple yet delicious.

Other dishes we had include the indulgent charcoal tofu, the refreshing Qinglong vegetable, and the crispy Malaysian-style Shan Lou Bee Hoon. Each dish was well executed.

This non air-conditioned eatery can be very crowded during peak hours and does not boast the most lavish ambiance, but if you are willing to overlook the bustling ambiance and focus solely on its incredible seafood offerings, Yang Ming Seafood is a destination that promises to satisfy your seafood cravings with BYO wines.
