Penang Keng Kwee Street
After a hearty meal at Tek Sen, we braved the sweltering heat and made our way to Keng Kwee Street, a bustling hotspot famed for its authentic Penang street food. The narrow lane is home to the iconic Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendol, where queues snake around for bowls of icy, coconut-rich chendol topped with pandan jelly and gula melaka. It was the perfect antidote to the blazing sun.
While there, we could not resist trying their char kway teow. Smoky, savoury, and full of wok hei, the plate came loaded with juicy prawns and crunchy bean sprouts, making every bite a delight. The contrast of the fiery char kway teow and the cooling chendol encapsulated Penang’s reputation as a food paradise.
Keng Kwee Street itself is a sensory overload, a vibrant mix of colours, chatter, and aromas. It is a must-visit for foodies who want to experience the pulse of Penang’s street food culture.
